My first thought on reading this Reuters story was that the wife was over-reacting
PHOENIX (Reuters) – An Arizona woman, in despair at the re-election of Democratic President Barack Obama, ran down her husband with the family car in suburban Phoenix on Saturday because he failed to vote in the election, police said on Monday.
Holly Solomon, 28, was arrested after running over husband Daniel Solomon following a wild chase that left him pinned underneath the vehicle.
Daniel Soloman is in critical condition.
I’m still hoping this story will turn out to be an exclusive from ‘The Onion’. If Arizona is one of those states that disenfranchises felons, Holly Solomon may have cast her last ballot. They should keep her away from cars and guns as well.
If Daniel Solomon survives he deserves a good lawyer. Domestic violence on this scale needs more than a restraining order, I hope he makes a full recovery.
The billions spent on the presidential campaign bought speech. Much of it was political debate, some of it was lies and slander. The worst of it continues to circulate like toxic waste in the information stream. This is another reason to get the dark money out of politics and shine some daylight on the Political Action Committees that act as attack dogs for candidates.
I grew up in the age of assassinations, and that is a continuing worry as the national mood continues unsettled and divided. How many people out there are mistaking rhetoric for reality?
UPDATE: Politico says Holly Soloman has been booked for assault and domestic violence.
