Forget Baby Jesus, It’s About Gay Marriage

With all the powerful messages that hearts open to in the Christmas season, this is what Pope Benedict preached about.

Pope Benedict used his annual Christmas message to denounce gay marriage, saying that it destroyed the “essence of the human creature.”

In one of his most important speeches of the year, the Pope stressed that a person’s gender identity is God-given and unchangeable. As a result, he sees gay marriage as a “manipulation of nature.”

“People dispute the idea that they have a nature, given to them by their bodily identity, that serves as a defining element of the human being,” he said at the Vatican on Friday. “They deny their nature and decide that it is not something previously given to them, but that they make it for themselves.”

The Pope has said that gay marriage, like abortion and euthanasia, is a threat to world peace.

Modest proposal– what if the Pope used the example of Baby Jesus to preach that we should value and cherish every infant born in this Christmas season- and maybe the whole year round?

And–just a thought– maybe war is a threat to world peace. The man who spent his childhood drafted into Hitler Youth might have learned a few things about what war does to women and children.

Why doesn’t the Pope bring the resources of his Church to focus on the children of the poor and war-ravaged? I’m only a Pagan, I wouldn’t understand.

I did learn in Catholic school that there are two kinds of sin, Mortal and Venial. What if owning a vibrator is a Venial sin, and owning an assault rifle is a Mortal sin? Is that in the Catechism?

I wrote a little ex-Catholic love letter to the Pope that might be if Benedict were visited by the ghost of John XXIII-
Pope Benedict’s Confession.
