Koerner’s Lunch stood around the corner from where Lupo’s used to be. Koerner wore a paper hat and served up soupy mashed potatoes and meat in gravy for about a dollar a plate. All the old guys went there.
Milo Stranger trucked trays and washed dishes for a while, got shorted on his pay and sued old Koerner.
Really, it was the McDonalds that opened around the corner, and Koerner was ready to hang up his apron– had been for years.
Still, Milo got the blame when the doors closed for good.
He doesn’t hang around downtown so much anymore.
