Today’s card is the II of Cups. Cups is a suit of intuition, emotion, renewal and refreshment, storms and floods as well. This card illustrates a communion of opposites, water sharing, two souls joining in the creation of something new. It’s also a card for healers facing a crisis with solidarity and common purpose.
I’m drawn to this card today because there is so much suffering in so many places on Earth. War under the banner of religion is murdering innocents in Iraq, in Israel and Gaza, in Nigeria and elsewhere. Even one of humanity’s most peaceful religions, Buddhism, has been drafted into war.
And once again, nature does what she does and we fail to use the hard-won knowledge earned from living through epidemics for as long as humans have congregated. The response to the Ebola outbreak in Africa will be slow and inadequate and uncoordinated and hampered by fear and denial. A divided world won’t be able to come together to put this fire out, even knowing that fires may happen in our house too some day.
HLGEM 1 at Daily Kos writes about her challenge of living with depression. Yesterday the death of actor, Robin Williams was announced. I thought of Dave St. Germain and how helpless it feels to learn too late that someone is in so much pain.
Be kind, for everyone you meet is fighting a hard battle.
